(Need instructions, or software to play this stuff? See below.)
"How do I play this stuff?"
The MP3 (download) versions of each tune are high-quality recordings, designed to be downloaded to your computer and played there (or loaded into your MP3 player, or burned onto a CD, or whatever you like). For best results, right click (windows) or click and hold (Mac) the icon until a menu pops up, choose the option that saves the file onto your hard drive ("Save Target As..." or "Save Link As..."). There's a reasonably good chance your computer already has the software necessary to play downloaded MP3 music. If you need player software, a recommended player is MusicMatch Jukebox.
The RealAudio (streaming, "Play Now") versions of each tune will produce reasonably good quality sound which will vary with the speed of your Internet connection (people with broadband connections will get better fidelity than people with dial-up modem connections). They're designed to be listened to immediately -- just click the icon to listen in (almost) real time. There's a reasonably good chance your computer already has the software necessary to play streaming RealAudio content. If you need player software, you can download it from the real.com web site.
Important notes about downloading players:
Both of the players above are available in free and enhanced (pay) versions. The web sites try hard to encourage you to buy the pay versions. If you don't want to pay for the player software, make sure you are downloading the completely free version (free, not "free trial.")
Like more and more free software packages these days, the installers for these products will often try to convince you that you should install other included "bonus" software on your computer. We suggest you do not do this. Some of this "bonus" software is actually "spyware," software designed to display pop-up ads on your computer (don't you have enough pop-up ads on your computer already?), and so forth. We recommend downloading and installing only the basic player software (or the enhanced, pay player) without any extras. Sometimes this requires that you perform a "custom" installation rather than telling the system do use defaults.
